Yuh's story
Yuh is the eldest of five children in her family and completed her ordinary level exams in 2008.
She lost her father about four years ago and her father's relations took their family home from her and her mother. This situation is common but often results in abuse and neglect. Now, as a result, her mother (a peasant farmer), suffered from a stroke and cannot look after her.
Yuh now has been compelled to drop out of school. She sells groundnuts and roasted corn on the streets to sustain her family.
Yuh desperately needs to complete her high school education as she will become the main bread winner for her family whom she now has the responsibility for. This is not just an investment in one child; it is the lifeline of all her family. She pleads and prays for us to help her.
It will cost just £109 (just 9.08 per month) to answer her prayers .

Listed in the left hand column are the names of the chidren that need sponsorship. Each have their own stories that you can read before choosing which child you want to help.
The cost of sponsoring a child depends on their age, as well as whether they need to sit their end of year exams, which they must do in order to progress to the next cycle.
Your sponsorship pays for school fees and we buy each child a supply of excercise and text books, pens and pencils. We also supply them with a school uniform, as well as a pair of black school shoes.
As a sponsor, your chosen child will have the reassurance that they can go to school without the worry of being turned away from classes and becoming a victim of their circumstances. They will be able to achieve their full potential and hopefully go on to achieve great things in life.
They will also be supported by Orock, our local Child Support Manager, who monitors their progress and helps ensure that they can maintain their attendance. (Sometimes the children have to overcome family difficulties or other impediments due to poverty and hardships).
We will provide you with updates on the child's educational development including school reports and exam results.
You can also corresspond with your sponsored child through our head and local offices.
In future, we hope to be able to arrange for sponsors to visit their sponsored child which, we have not doubt, will greatly enhance the joy and satisfaction of both them and the sponsored child.
LOIS -TRACY NGEMBA TAMBE
DOB: 25 August 2006
Lois-Tracy lost her dad when she was just one year old and her young widow mum, Felicitas, became a victim of a common cultural malpractice in Africa.
From when her husband, the sole bread winner of the family, was hospitalized, Felicitas suffered ill-treatment from her family in-law. And when he eventually died, she was kicked out of her husband's house, all their property (including land and household possessions) seized and she was left alone with just a
bed, a single room, no job, no husband and a baby to cater to.
Three years on after her father's death, Lois-Tracy and her mum have been living from hand to mouth trying to make ends meet but with very little success. Having had very little education herself, her mum has been unable to find a job and has been relying on occasional help from other poor family members and rely on good samaritans for food and basic needs.
Despite her struggles, she wants Lois-Tracy to get an education so she does not suffer the same fate.
Just £70 will send Lois-Tracy to school for a whole year and give her hope for a future.

6.How long does sponsorship last?
7.How do you keep me informed about the child I sponsor?
8.Can I communicate with my sponsored child?
9.I have some more questions; can I speak to someone directly about sponsoring a child?
Yes. We are fairly unique in that we match specific children with individual sponsors. We believe that this is a more rewarding method of sponsorship and allows you to build a more personal relationship with your chosen child.
Sponsorship costs start from as little as £78 per year thats just £6.50 per month or 21p per day!
This is for a child attending primary school and covers registration and tuition fees, providing for school text books, stationery, a school uniform and a pair of black shoes. As the child gets older and attends a secondary or technical school the costs of providing education go up accordingly.
You can see a table detailing the exact costs by clicking on the links on the left hand column and for each child that we are seeking sponsorship for, we clearly state their sponsorship needs.
Yes. This is a great way to share the caring, as well as the reward of helping a child in Africa get the education that will change their lives! You can get together with work colleagues, friends or family members and split the cost of sponsorship for a child. It's a great and easy way for more people to do something really amazing.
4. Does all my sponsorship go to the child?
Yes. We guarantee that 100% of all your sponsorship money goes only to the educational needs of your chosen child.
We can do this because we are staffed by volunteers and have no real overheads. Any costs we do incur are paid for by our staff or from non sponsorship income.
Because school fees and uniforms need to be obtained at the beginning of a child,s educational year, we do require all the sponsorship money in one payment. Fortunately we spend all the money we raise on helping children and this means that we do not have the financial reserves that allow us to offer monthly payments.
We are very conscious of costs and therefore we prefer to receive payments by cheque or by bank transfer made payable to:
Guardian Network Africa
Account number: 23992268
Sort Code: 30-93-91
Otherwise we do accept Paypal payments through the website.
You can sponsor a child for a long as you feel able and willing. The least we ask for is a year but after that, there is no further commitment or obligation on your behalf. However we are sure that once you start your sponsorship and see for yourself the wonderful difference it makes, you will want to continue.
We want you to give you the opportunity to develop a close relationship with your chosen child and we are committed to giving you real feedback as to their educational and personal development.
To begin with, we will send you a personal file about the child you have chosen detailing a little about them, their background and the locality in which they live.
We will also send you details of school reports and exam results each year and provide you with regular interim updates from our local Child Support Managers who meet to monitor and mentor the children.
Yes and we do encourage both the sponsor and child to correspond. This can be in the form of letters, cards, artwork or anything that might enrich the relationship. We ask that this is done sensitively bearing in mind local cultures and sensibilities.
Any correspondence will be channeled via our head office and the local office in Cameroon and so it can take a little while for messages to get to and from Cameroon. We also are very conscious of protecting your personal details and have a policy of not forwarding your personal contact details.
Details about how to send correspondence will be sent with your sponsorship pack.
Yes. Please use the contact form on this website where you can send us an email or telephone us. We prefer that you use the email form in the first case as we cannot guarantee that we can answer the phone straight away.
